Welcome to the Hollow Body Studios & Trinity Restaurant & Bar

Acoustic Open-Mic Website.   EVERY MONDAY NIGHT 8:15-11:15PM

"I'd have to say that was one of the best open mics I've attended. There was a real sense of camaraderie and a feeling of mutual respect for each other's work. The sound system was great and handled by someone who clearly knows what he is doing. The room is perfect." - Tony Tedeschi

ABOUT THE OPEN MIC:
In the tradition of the Post Crypt open-mic at Columbia University, The Hollow Body Studios open-mic is a true "listening room" environment. Located in its own separate and intimate room within the Trinity Restaurant and Bar, in Floral Park, NY, the space is more conducive to nurturing live acoustic music. Because of this, silence during performances is a must. Additionally, both performers and audience get the best of both worlds as just outside the performance space is the bar and restaurant. Come early for dinner or drinks and stay for the open mic. (Pictures will be posted shortly.)

OPEN-MIC GUIDELINES / TECHNICAL INFO / FREE RECORDING:
Sign up begins around 8pm. Performers get 3 songs UP TO 12 minutes total performance time. This usually allows for 3 slightly less than average length songs. Performers cannot excede the 12 minute time slot so please MAKE SURE you plan accordingly. Come early to ensure you get playing time. As of now, the open-mic will end promptly at 11:30pm regardless of if any artists have yet to perform for the night. Most nights you will be able to request a high-quality digital recording of one of your songs. This recording will be emailed to you in the form of an MP3 file or it can be picked up by you on cd the following week. If you'd like your whole set recorded, the cost will be $10.00.

There is a small PA with cable and a tuner at the open-mic. Because of the intimate room size, only slight amplification is necessary and performers are welcomed to play purely acoustic if they desire. Keyboardists should bring their own small to mid-sized keyboard. Bring your own acoustic guitar. DO NOT BRING ELECTRIC GUITARS OR AMPLIFIERS. If you must play an electric guitar, you will HAVE TO PLAY THROUGH THE PA - NO AMPLIFIERS OF ANY KIND WILL BE ALLOWED, no matter how small they may be. For duo's or trio's with bassists, they can go through the PA as volume will be low. There will be a small "stage" / platform to perform on. Acoustic duo's and trio's are welcome. If you have a percussionist - because of the small size of the room, only snare drums with brushes or cunga's / djembe's / dumbek's are appropriate. Acoustic musicians only.
