David Jaye

You know somone's good when their peers consistently place them as among the best, if not the best songwriter / performer in their scene. Quietly, Alli Collis has become known as just that in and around the northeast and mid-atlantic regions where she's recently taken up residence. On her debut cd, and now with her follow up, Signal On The Starboard, Collis rises to a level which should do the same on a national level. www.allicollis.com

If David Jaye's jazzy guitar riffs don't grab you, his haunting songs and delivery will. Indie-Music.com recently wrote about his new release, A Fall Too Far, "Truly rare is it to witness an instrumentation with such attention to details, so nimbly and gracefully played, streaming from one musician’s one instrument ... or two or three. As if this totally excellent guitar playing wasn’t enough, (Jaye) has no problem slinging his guitar to the floor only to pick up his saxophone..." Jaye and Collis have been performing together off and on for over a year. www.davidjaye.com

Reuniting for the first time in 10 years, the original members of the Long Island pop / rock band Wheel will rock the house at this months HB fest! Doug Kwartler, John Newman, Dave Connolly and Steve Caroppoli's last show together was 10 years ago. Wheel's last show, (after Dave and Steve were no longer in the band) was a highly publicized concert at Shea stadium in 1996. During its heyday, the band were top 5 finalists in the Long Island Music Festival and appeared up and down the east coast at other venues and festivals including: Rt. 1 South in Richmond, VA and the first ever Nemo festival in Boston, MA. Wheel was known for it's energetic performances and combining roots / folk rock styles with progressive rock arrangments.

The elusive and mysterious Tone will grace this months installment of the HB fest. One of the islands most intense and dynamic performers, The Tone's music echo's shades of Neil Young, Cat Stevens and James Taylor. Truly one of the more gifted songwriters in the NY area The Tone's sweet and inspirational music and voice are a pleasure to hear. Contact The Tone at: mmirro@optonline.net

Not only is Michael Leuci one of the most versatile and formidable musicians in the NY area, but he's also one of it's finest songwriters. This month, Mike finally gives us a set full of material that he's been working on for a couple of years for his debut cd. A rare occurence like this should not be missed! Contact Mike.

REPEAT PERFORMANCE!

Miles To Dayton: (milestodayton.net)

The great Miles To Dayton will grace our stage again this Sept. 24th! Born out of the ashes of romantic tragedy, this Long Island based trio first began honing their performance skills at local open mic nights in the fall of 2003. The talented brother-sister duo of Dave and Krista March, with musical journeyman Jonathan Preddice, combine to bring a unique texture of harmony and song to the local scene. After adding young phenom Rob Caniglia on percussion, the ensemble has expanded its horizons to both accoustic and/or full band performance setup. Miles to dayton will leave a lasting impression on your ears, relying on quality musicianship and performance along with a melody that will carry you back to the next show. After just completing their self-titled EP, with a full album set for independent release in early 2005, Miles to Dayton seems poised for greatness in the near future.

John-Flor Sisante's music is spilling over with imaginative lyrics, chord changes and sensitivity - which makes him one of the most engaging performers this side of the Mississippi. "(John-Flor) Sisante's new full-length disc, " The Music of Things ", is a collection of 10 terrific tracks...throughout the disc, he puts his stamp on each song in surprising, delightful ways. Sweet ballads contain bitter centers; acoustic guitars are played with aggression; clever wordplay hides in the lyrics..." - Rafer Guzman, New York Newsday, June 2004 www.myspace.com/johnflor

Deborah Lombardi has been a fixture on the Long Island music scene not only as a songwriter, performer and vocalist, but also as an organizer / leader of the Long Island Acoustic Movement. Her songs are filled with bluesy heartbreak and sweet sensual melodies. www.deborahlombardi.com

As one of the bright new young faces in the NYC / Long Island area, Rorie Kelly is burning up a trail as a gritty, raw and honest songwriter with bold confessional lyrics and infectious melodies. Look for her star to rise high. Catch her here at the fest before she starts selling out theatres everywhere! www.roriekelly.com

The Matthew Show

Born and raised in rural Texas, matthew spent 10 years navigating the murky waters of the North Texas music scene in a variety of bands. He moved to New York in 2002 to pursue a solo career as the matthew show. In 2003 his debut solo album, texas, was released to wide critical acclaim. His Letter From NYC, a somewhat-monthly missive from the city to those back in Middle America, is read widely and, like texas, has garnered notice as an entertaining document of a rather odd American life. He currently resides in Brooklyn. www.thematthewshow.com
